On Friday, Kasper Jade reported on AppleInsider that the new MacBook Air 2011 is likely to get a June refresh.
Despite its relatively weak processor, the MacBook Air is pretty speedy thanks to its solid state drive. Intel’s integrated Intel graphics, Sandy Bridge microprocessors, and the Thunderbolt I/O port would be used in the new MacBook Air, all of these features are received in the MacBook Pro refreshed earlier this year. News about the MacBook seems to be soon telling whether there gonna be a refresh or not.
Just as what Debbie pointed out, the 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch MacBook Air models got a flying selling start with some 1 million unit last October, resulting itself to be one of the most popular Apple Mac offerings.
TUAW says the Samsung drives in the MacBook Air have read speeds at 261 MB per second versus 210 MB per second with the Toshiba drives. You probably won’t notice a huge difference in side to side comparisons, but it’s great that Apple is shopping around for ways to boost the Air’s performance.
What’s disappointed, since the release of the MacBook Air three years ago, it didn’t get a major revision while the 11 inches model of MacBook Air was a totally new stuff. At the same time, the MacBook Pro stays without refresh for 10 months, and also be hadn’t updated greatly for 2 years. So no matter whether this news gonna be true or not, it’s quite possible that the current MacBook Air models are a little out of date while the MacBook Pro has equipped with the newer technology, the refresh of Air then just become urgent. So if you have an idea about purchasing a MacBook Air, you’d better wait for a couple of days for the new MacBook Air, or but a MacBook Pro instead.
