THXWhat’s THX file?

Created with THX Tracker program which is on an Amiga system, THX file is renowned as an audio file or song, which is quite similar with MIDI file or trade name of a high-fidelity sound reproduction standard for movie theaters, screening rooms, home theaters, gaming consoles, computer speakers, and car audio systems. THX files also include audio samples.

Not as a recording technology, the THX system does not specify a sound recording format: all sound formats, whether analog (Dolby Stereo, Ultra-Stereo) or digital (Dolby Digital, SDDS), can be “shown in THX.”

wavWhat are WAV files?

WAV, short for Waveform Audio File Format,(also, but rarely, named, Audio for Windows) is a Microsoft and IBM audio file format standard for storing an audio bitstream on PCs.Similar to the AVI and ASF format, WAV is only a file container. Audio content that is compressed with a wide variety of codecs and that is stored in a .wav file can be played back in Windows Media Player if the appropriate codecs are installed on the computer. The most common audio codecs that are used in .wav files include Microsoft Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (MS ADPCM) and uncompressed Pulse Code Modulation (PCM).

The usage of the WAV format has more to do with its familiarity, its simplicity and simple structure, which is heavily based on the IFF file format. Because of this, it continues to enjoy widespread use with a variety of software applications, often functioning as a ‘lowest common denominator’ when it comes to exchanging sound files between different programs. The WAV format is limited to files that are less than 4 GB in size, because of its use of a 32-bit unsigned integer to record the file size header (some programs limit the file size to 2 C4 GB).
