November 26th, 2010

Free paparazzi Description

Frequently Asked Questions (mostly)

Q. Will there ever be a Windows version?
A. No. Paparazzi! is based entirely around WebKit and Cocoa, and as such, a porter would be better off simply starting over from scratch and releasing their own product.

Q. What’s up with the funny format of paparazzi: URLs with arguments?
A. I wanted to make it as easy as possible to simply have a URL with just the hostname, e.g., paparazzi:http://www.derailer.org/

Q. Dude, where’s my Python? I thought this was based on webkit2png!
A. Only the idea is based on webkit2png; there is no actual Python code in Paparazzi!.

Q. I’m using 0.3, and background images don’t show when I save as PDF! What gives?
A. Basically, I forgot that the WebPreferences settings were saved to the defaults database. You can fix this yourself by opening the terminal and typing defaults write org.derailer.Paparazzi\! WebKitShouldPrintBackgroundsPreferenceKey -bool true (all one line) and pressing return.

Q. When will Paparazzi! be a universal binary?
A. After I get my MacBook. Unfortunately, this is going to be sometime in March.
A. As of version 0.4.3, it is! Go get it!!

Frequently asked questions :

How can I make my Jings work on an iPad or iPhone?

Images should work on both the iPhone and iPad without having to do anything special.
Jing videos (SWF and MP4) currently won’t play on an iPhone.
If you have Jing Pro, your MP4 videos will play on an iPad assuming you do not make them bigger than the total dimensions of 1280 x 720 pixels. (SWFs created with the free version of Jing do not work on the iPad.)

How do I capture something that’s bigger than my screen?

Officially, you can’t. A work-around would be to record a video, and then scroll down every few seconds. You could even tell the viewer to pause while watching so they can see everything. A better solution would be to get Snagit which has automatic scrolling capture.

Can Jing make images in non-PNG format-like JPG instead?

No. Just PNG.

Does Jing work on Linux?

No, and currently we have no plans to do so.

Does Jing have a higher frame rate setting?

Nope. It’s hard-coded at 10 frames per second. Camtasia Studio and Camtasia for Mac can record at higher frame rates and offer editing capabilities.

Copernicus

October 29th, 2010

Copernicus 2.0

copernicusDescription for Free Copernicus:

Free Copernicus doesn’t just take screenshots, it’s a virtual photo gallery too. Take as many pictures as you like, then save them one at a time or all at once. Copernicus is perfect for taking many screenshots.

Fast Movies.A special feature allows you to save directly to RAM, increasing movie framerates significantly for shorter movies. This is great to demonstrate a simple action to a friend or colleague.

Many UsesSo what is a screenshot for, anyways? Why would anybody want to take a picture of their screen? If you’re making a book or a manual, having a picture along with text helps clarify things. If you want to show a friend or colleague what you’re working on or show your administrator something that went wrong on your computer, a screenshot is key. You can even use the movie feature to create how-to demonstration movies.

“Manage all of your screenshots”

This reviewed was made by the edtiors Cyril Roger from Softonic

Free Copernicus is a solid screen capture tool which allows you to capture parts or your whole screen. You can also record small videos. Copernicus lets you set the frame rate and decide whether to rely on memory or hard drive.

I like how Free Copernicus includes a preview interface for batch handling your different screen grabs. When saving you’ll notice you can adjust the quality of the image, however you won’t be able to change the format from JPG.

I didn’t really like how Copernicus worked with F keys, which I don’t find the most comfortable to work with on a Mac. However other users might find them very handy for controlling the program.

Copernicus is a good program to grab selections of your screen and manage your captures easily.

OS requirements for Copernicus:

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does SpaceSuit change my desktop image settings ?

No, SpaceSuit doesn’t change your desktop image settings.
SpaceSuit adds a layer over your desktop on which images are displayed. When you exit SpaceSuit, this layer is removed and you can see your default desktop background.
How can I remove an image from a Space ?

To remove an image from a Space, go to this Space, right-click on SpaceSuit’s icon in the Dock and select ‘Remove Image’.
    Recommendation on memory usage.

If SpaceSuit is running you will need to close it before the uninstallation. To do that, right-click on SpaceSuit’s icon in the Dock and select Quit.
