Winamp MPC Plugin

July 27th, 2010

Winamp MPC Plugin is needed to play MPC, MPP or MP+ files with Winamp (2 or 5).
It supports ReplayGain, Crossfade Plugins and ignores ID3v2 tags (which are definitely not supported by MPC!)

This plug-in give you access to various Winamp functions such as “Play track”, “View ID3 tag” etc. even if Winamp is inactive, minimized or hidden. Main difference TipKeys from similar plug-ins, that TipKeys prompts the various information: the name of record, how much remained up to the end, ID3 tag, etc.
In a word, TipKeys allows to get rid completely of Distracting switching between the program in which you work and Winamp.

Changes in Winamp MPC Plugin 0.99g :

- Fixed freeze when “Disable error messages” in on and there are dead playlist entries – Milan Gurjanov

    G.726

    July 20th, 2010

G.726 is an ITU-T ADPCM speech codec standard covering the transmission of voice at rates of 16, 24, 32, and 40 kbit/s.

It was introduced to supersede both G.721, which covered ADPCM at 32 kbit/s, and G.723, which described ADPCM for 24 and 40 kbit/s.

G.726 also introduced a new 16 kbit/s rate. The four bit rates associated with G.726 are often referred to by the bit size of a sample, which are 2-bits, 3-bits, 4-bits, and 5-bits respectively.

The most commonly used mode is 32 kbit/s, which doubles the usable network capacity by using half the rate of G.711. It is primarily used on international trunks in the phone network. The principal application of 24 and 16 kbit/s channels is for overload channels carrying voice in digital circuit multiplication equipment (DCME). The principal application of 40 kbit/s channels is to carry data modem signals in DCME, especially for modems operating at greater than 4800 kbit/s.

It also is the standard codec used in DECT wireless phone systems and is used on some Canon cameras.

    CDA File Extension

    July 15th, 2010

The CDA file type is primarily associated with “CD Audio Track Shortcut”. A .CDA shortcut file is a small file generated by Microsoft Windows for each track on an audio CD. The file contains indexing information and are named in the form TRACK.CDA. The files contain no audio and are basically useless when a CD is ripped to a computer’s hard drive or converted to MP3 and written out as files to a CD. Some software makes it appear the files contain audio as recorded material starts when a .CDA file is clicked on but that’s just the software operating and not music in the .CDA file.
